Monthly Archives: January 2013

More posts this February!

Yay! šŸ™‚ Ā So far, I’ve managed to post three late updates this month despite my busy college schedule (har-di-har-har). Not bad, not bad. *Obama meme*

But I still have a lot of pending posts here in my laptop (and brain), so watch out for them this coming month of hearts!

I really hope I can squeeze some time to share these fun stories with you guys. They’re really awesome. šŸ˜‰ Ā So don’t give up on us and hang on real tight!

***SPECIAL PALATE EXPERIENCE***

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ever since my dad bought us our first ever pandesal from Pan de Manila, Iā€™ve always craved for it. It was love at first sight, first sniff, first touch, and first taste. Iā€™ve always been amazed by how large and chewy every pandesal is, and although my first encounter with this awesome bread was so long ago, I can still remember the satisfaction I got when I took my first bite.
And recently (uhm, late 2012?), I discovered something as amazing as the bread itself: their Spanish style chocolate mix, theĀ Chocolate con Leche.
Ever since I had my first authentic hot cocoa drink in 2011, Iā€™ve always adored hot chocolate drinks, especially the bitter ones. When I tasted my first Tsoko.Nut Batirol drink (if you want to read my post about that, clickĀ here), it strengthened my desire for cocoa. And now that Iā€™ve discovered this, my pandesal moments will surely be more awesome!
As you can see, it has another variant: theĀ Chocolate BlancoĀ or the Spanish style white chocolate mix. Iā€™ve tried it, and itā€™s just as good as theĀ Chocolate con Leche. šŸ™‚ *thumbs up*
But the star of the show (or post) here is the pure chocolate drink. šŸ™‚Ā  Iā€™m just a sucker for smoking hot chocolate drinks. Iā€™ve loved Milo as a kid (until now, actually), and my favorites as of the present time are Starbucksā€™ Signature Hot Chocolate (with lots and lots of chocolate sprinkles on top), Beanhoppers Coffeeā€™s Hot Chocolate with marshmallows (looooove!), Coffee Bean and Tea Leafā€™s Hot Double Chocolate, of course Tsoko.Nut Batirolā€™s Tsokolate Ah, and Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate & Dark Chocolate mixes. My quest for my next favorite hot choco drink is not over, though. šŸ˜‰
Guys, try Pan de Manilaā€™sĀ Chocolate on LecheĀ now and I guarantee you, you will be transported to the awesome era of 1800s to 1900s! šŸ™‚Ā  Its rich aroma and authentic flavor are enough reasons for you to fall in love with it, too.
And oh, for those who are always on-the-go, they have it in cups! Just add hot water andĀ voila! You now have yourself a really classic chocolate-y drink while in your car or everywhere!
If you want to take a break from your usual coffee beverage, giveĀ Chocolate con LecheĀ a sip and letā€™s see if you donā€™t buy another one afterwards. šŸ˜‰
P.S.:Ā Pan de Manila also has a 3-in-1 coffee mix! Check out one of their branches to discover more of their offerings!)
It is ON!
At last, Meeka and I finally got the chance to bond over food, laughs, and a hearty chat! šŸ™‚Ā  I think the last time we ate together for this blog (and our friendship, of course, LOL) was at KXP last September 2012! Gosh, we surely missed out on a LOT of potential times to share grubs together!
Anyway, weā€™re back on track, and weā€™re planning to try to keep it this way. šŸ˜‰
(A big and resounding ā€œHolla!ā€ from Meeka and Lexy! :*)
As you all know, we ate a LOT when we had our comeback bonding this year. Do you all know what this means? šŸ™‚
Thatā€™s right; we have yummy posts in store for ya! šŸ˜€Ā  So stay tuned, okay? For the meantime, Iā€™m going to finish updating my late posts.
Watch out for these food stories! šŸ˜‰
Just Like Zombieland: Outbreak EK
Date: October 31, 2012
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As you can see, guys, this is a late update also. Again, my apologies. šŸ™‚

Anyway, Iā€™m so glad to share my 2nd experience with ā€œzombiesā€ with you, people (even if itā€™s almost two months to late). šŸ™‚Ā  Last time, I was able to run for my life because I won a free race kit from Gala magazine. This time, I sort of covered the whole event. Pretty awesome, huh? Thanks so much, Gala!

image

As you can remember, I donned my comfiest pair of pajamas (complete with hair rollers and a pillow) in the last Outbreak. Well, this time, I dressed up as a newscaster ā€œwho was doing a coverage when the zombies suddenly showed up.ā€

image

Why? I donā€™t know. Hahaha! No seriously, I was running out of ideas for my costume and the reporter thing seemed like a pretty neat idea, since Iā€™m a Journalism student, after all. šŸ˜‰

image

(Just us, doing an “interview” šŸ˜› Ā Meet my very good friend, Cindy!)

Anyway, the 5K zombie-infested run was super cool, like my past Outbreak experience. I got to escape some zombies with my friend Cindy and her high school buddies Ken, Pauli, and Razaele, who won the Best in Costume award for Wave 15 with his attention-grabbing Slenderman getup. (He was practically one of the most famous runners that night, lol.)

image(Me and Cindy posing with her HS friends Pauli, Razaele and Ken)

Adding up to the awesomeness of the zombie run was the fact that it was held at Enchanted Kingdom, which is probably one of the most-loved amusement park in the country. I mean, who couldā€™ve thought of holding a 5K sprint inside a park full of ferris wheel, merry-go-round, and other rides? It was just like the movie Zombieland… and it was so lifelike because when zombies get the chance conquer the world, no place will be spared.

All in all, it was just mind-blowing. I didnā€™t mind the wounds and bruises that I got when a group of people behind me got excited and accidentally pushed me to the ground (those wounds lasted for weeks and left some scars, ugh!). I also didnā€™t care about the fact that, because of my injury, I wasnā€™t able to run and protect my flags… so when I came across a bunch of zombies near Harry Houdiniā€™s shop, these ruthless rotting humans gladly took all my flags. I was left with zero flags, two bruises and three wounds.

But, even though I came out of EK ā€œdead,ā€ I still emerged sweaty and energetic, which were more important to me than having my flags intact. Because this is, after all, a 5K run.

And oh, letā€™s not forget the medal!

image

Yea, I know theyā€™re just for finishers and were given to ALL runners (with flags or no flags), but itā€™s still a symbol that I was part of this historic run and something to remind me that ā€œI survived the Outbreak— again!ā€

image(Yours truly with Cindy and Pauli (and Slenderman creeping from behind, haha)… and our medals, of course! šŸ˜€ Ā Photo: Kenneth Velasquez)

I would love to survive another zombie apocalypse soon! šŸ™‚Ā  Well, after theyā€™re done with Cebu, I hope they can conduct another night run here in Manila… or somewhere nearer. Great job, organizers of Outbreak Manila! Youā€™ve done it again! šŸ˜‰

P.S.: Before I move on to my Sweat Rating, please grab a copy of Gala magazineā€™s December-January 2013 ish, with Vice Ganda on the cover. If you want tips on how to survive the next zombie run, read the article (Outbreak EK: Survival of the Fastest, the Fittest, the Most Vigilant… and the Most Creative)Ā written by yours truly. šŸ˜‰Ā  Thanks!

Sunny, Simple Sunday Sprint (4S): InsuRUNce 2012

Ā image

(photo: pinoyfitness.com)

Date: October 14, 2012

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whew! This event was supposed to be posted months ago! My apologies for the delay, guys. šŸ™‚
Anyhoo, I will just make this post short and simple, okay? Just like the run itself, which was kind of short (yea for me, because I only ran 3K for a change) and super simple… but was still warmly accepted by amateur and professional runners alike, as well as parents who just wanted to bond with their kids under a lovely Sunday sun.
Ā image
Unfortunately, I participated in this fun run ALONE due to some last minute changes involving my ā€˜supposed-to-beā€™ running buddy. But it was still awesome, nonetheless. šŸ™‚Ā  I opted to run 3K this time to see if 5K was really that long… because when I started my ā€œThe Running Projectā€ last July 2012 with the Manila Bay Cleanup Run, I signed up for a 5K route and I really thought I made a mistake because it was very long! Well, that was before I got used to running (and walking) 5K distances, and now I feel good. šŸ™‚
Ā image
(photos: Vertical Finisher)
Turns out, 3K was super short! I got soĀ bitinĀ that, after the run, I walked from BGC to Glorietta 5… and ended up with really sore legs for 2-3 days. šŸ™‚Ā  But the pain was so worth it! I got to sweat a few more while walking the streets of BGC— and a little sight-seeing didnā€™t hurt. šŸ˜‰
Ā image
Like I said, the run was very simple. The freebies were reasonable (thanks for the hygiene stuffĀ insideĀ a hygiene kit, Pru Like UK!) and hey, we had free Gatorade drinks! šŸ™‚Ā  LOL.
I hope thereā€™ll be more run like this in the future— simple and no fuss at all, also less people and more space to run on.
Meh. But then again, thatā€™s just me. šŸ˜‰
(This run was organized by Without Limits.)
